Looking for partners for one on one roleplays

Hi there, I've found myself lacking any RP partners and I'm not particularly happy about it but at the same time I don't feel like I have enough time to commit to a group RP so I decided that a one on one would be my best bet.

A quick few things about me; I'm male, my name is Steven, I'm 23 and I'm from Scotland. I've been RPing for a number of years now, probably about 8 or 9. I prefer RPs via email as I can check emails from work whereas I can't check this website. I usually write several paragraphs and I'd like you to do the same, spelling and grammar are important also although I won't get annoyed by one or two little mistakes here and there. I'm also looking for something long-term here so if you're not looking for that then I'm not the person for you.

Now for the important bit, what kind of RPs I'm looking for. Well I'm into several different genres and even some fandoms so I'll just make a list here, I like original characters when it comes to fandoms rather than playing anyone canon. I only play males and if the other player or character is female then I'm open to romance in any of these genres/fandoms. Anyway, here's a list:

Historical:
Regency, Victorian, Between the world wars are favourite eras. I'm also open to having some supernatural elements within these timeframes, within reason though, or even alternative history settings, including steam punk.

Star wars:
Preferably the timeline around the first or second Knights of the Old Republic game although I may be open for discussion as to other timelines.

Lord of the Rings:
Before, during or after the films, I'm happy with any option.

Anime:
I enjoy loads of different kinds of anime but to name a few: Anything by Studio Ghibli, Berserk, Sword Art Online and Dragonball/Dragonball Z. Even something in an original setting but with themes from various animes would interest me.

Doctor Who/Torchwood:
I've always wanted to try something based in the Doctor Who/Torchwood universe with original characters, I think it could be quite interesting.

That's what I can come up with off the top of my head but I'm open to discussion so feel free to get in touch. I'd prefer if you contacted me via email, my address is thelibertine12@gmail.com. I hope to hear from you soon.

Steven

Barclays plans to close three banking branches in India

BBR Staff Writer Published 28 September 2012

Barclays is planning to close three of its nine bank branches in India by end of this month, and slash nearly 30-40 jobs, as the UK bank seeks to quit retail banking business in the country.

The bank branches likely to be shut down are located in Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh; Ahmednagar, Maharashtra; and Junagarh in Gujarat.

The remaining six branches in the country will continue to run to facilitate corporate banking operations.

The UK's fourth-largest bank said in a statement, "We took a decision then to sharpen our focus in India on corporate and investment banking and wealth management and to reduce over time our retail banking presence to a core network of branches serving the high net worth individuals segment."

Barclays offloaded its India credit cards business to Standard Chartered Bank and Kotak Mahindra Bank in December 2011, and is negotiating with bidders to sell its Rs32,000m ($600m) retail assets business in the country.

Former SEAL runs marathon after surviving cancer, double lung ...

Posted on: 2:58 pm, September 29, 2012, by Web Staff, updated on: 07:37pm, September 29, 2012

Justin Legg (CNN)

Justin Legg (CNN)

(CNN) ? Justin Legg could dead-lift a washing machine and carry it across the street. He could swim miles on end and run a marathon on one day?s notice.

The former Navy SEAL stayed in top shape because his life ? and the lives of his teammates ? depended on it.

But when his physical strength deteriorated in a fight against cancer, Legg had to rely on his mental fortitude to carry him through four years of excruciating pain, a bone marrow transplant and two collapsed lungs.

Finally back on his feet, Legg now has a new mission. He?s relearning to run, one step at a time, in honor of the 19-year-old boy who saved his life.

Newlywed nightmare

The pain started in his ribs. Legg brushed it off, figuring a martial arts fight had gotten the best of him.

He and his new wife, Suzanne, were enjoying their first few months of marital bliss in Louisiana. He was rebuilding their house ? the one that Hurricane Katrina had destroyed ? in between training at a military base in Mississippi.

But the pain persisted and his workouts soon started to suffer.

?For me it was pretty easy to run 10, 15 miles,? Legg says. ?Suddenly I couldn?t run five. I got to three and my legs just ground to a halt.?

In June 2006, shortly before his 28th birthday, Legg?s doctor called and told him that his white blood cell count was elevated. The military sent Legg to the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, to get checked out.

The diagnosis: acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

?My first question was, ?Can I still be a SEAL??? Legg remembers.

Still in shock, Suzanne was ticked off: ?Not ?My new bride? or ?What?s our new life going to be like?? but ?Am I going to be able to roll in the dirt with my friends and blow up things?? My whole world in front of me just went black.?

Doctors immediately started Legg on eight straight days of chemotherapy. The drugs had no mercy ? attacking healthy and unhealthy cells alike, weakening his entire body.

?They tell you to take your IV pole and walk a lap around the floor each day to avoid clots,? Legg says. ?I remember leaning on that IV pole, just draping my arms over top of it just to get around the ward once.?

That didn?t stop him from doing lunges in the hospital library, using books as weights.

In addition to leukemia, doctors discovered Legg had the Philadelphia Chromosome, an abnormality in his genes that caused cancerous cells to duplicate 80 times faster than in other patients.

Chemotherapy wasn?t going to be enough; he needed a bone marrow transplant.

If you tell him, ?You can?t,? he loves to prove you wrong.
Suzanne Legg.

Attacked from within

Like many SEALs, Legg is a little ?twisted,? Suzanne says. He?s stubborn. Intense. Arrogant.

?If you tell him, ?There?s a very low chance that you?ll get through this,? well, he knows he can. If you tell him, ?You can?t,? he loves to prove you wrong. That?s the little cherry on top for him.?

She believes that attitude saved him.

Legg developed graft-versus-host disease shortly after receiving a bone marrow transplant from a German donor. With graft-vs.-host disease, the new cells attack the recipient?s body because they see it as a foreign entity.

?For the first two months I was throwing up every day because my stomach was getting beat up so bad,? Legg says.

He also developed a severe skin condition. Anytime he got warm, hives would break out all over his body. For months, Legg worked out with a mouth guard so he could get through the pain without screaming.

In 2007, Legg went back to work and rejoined the SEALs as a platoon commander. He knew his struggle wasn?t over, but he was managing the disease.

Managing it, that is, until a doctor made a mistake with his medication, causing his symptoms to flare up again. His hands and feet itched like crazy. A mouth full of sores caused any crunchy food to hurt like a razor blade. Cause for more concern was his liver and lungs, which were failing rapidly.

By February 2009, it had gotten so bad that he had to resign from his SEAL team. ?That crushed me,? he says. ?That was everything I had worked for since I was 14 or 15 years old.?

And the worst was yet to come.

?I remember the day my lungs collapsed. I remember them putting me on a gurney, calling a code blue, rushing me through the hospital.?

Legg slipped into a coma.

?The doctors told me how sick he was, how close to death he was,? Suzanne says. ?I was just thinking? there is no way Justin can die like this. He will be so PO-ed.?

After two weeks, Legg awakened from his coma. For a while, his body seemed OK, but doctors were worried about his chest scans. After everything he had been through, the news that he would need a double lung transplant barely fazed him.

?Death wasn?t an option,? Legg says. ?In my mind, I?ve always thought that I have the ability to prevent this from happening. I have the ability to fight it off.?

He had the operation on July 22, 2010.

Back on his feet

Just eight months after his transplant, Legg completed a half marathon. In September 2012, he half-ran, half-walked his second.

Working with Team in Training, a fundraising program with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Legg has collected more than $39,000 this year for cancer research. He hopes to raise another $11,000 by running the Disney Wine & Dine half marathon in November.

If he reaches his fundraising goal before the end of the year, he?ll be allowed to name a research project after his lung donor, 19-year-old Jarred McKinley Carter.

?Jarred abruptly ended his life on July 20, 2010, without knowing what an incredible person he was,? his mother, Julie McCarthy, told CNN in an e-mail. ?Jarred died believing that he didn?t matter, that no one would remember his name? Justin and Jarred are now joined together ? a brotherhood ? on a mission to help others. They endure training together, go on adventures together. My son still lives and breathes.?

Legg hopes to meet McCarthy in Florida after the November race. He is reminded every day that he wouldn?t be alive if it weren?t for her son.

Legg still struggles to do simple tasks, like mow the lawn or climb stairs. Most lung transplant patients die from complications within five years, a statistic that?s always in the back of Suzanne?s mind.

?I constantly ask him, ?Are you OK? Are you breathing?? That drives him crazy,? she says with a laugh. ?(But) if there?s one person that can live for 25 years with a new set of lungs, it?s going to be him.?

For now, the couple is focusing on taking things one step at a time ? all the way to the finish line. Legg strives to follow his SEAL team?s motto: Earn Your Trident Everyday.

?You must do something to improve yourself each day,? he wrote on his blog. ?That doesn?t mean just doing what is required. That means stretch your limits a little bit farther than the day before.?

Bahrain opposition: Protester killed in clashes

MANAMA, Bahrain (AP) ? Riot police in Bahrain fired tear gas and stun grenades Saturday in clashes with protesters, who broke away from a funeral procession for a 17-year-old boy killed during earlier street battles with security forces in the Gulf kingdom.

Thousands of mourners took part in the funeral march, chanting anti-government slogans and waving Bahraini flags. Later, smaller groups of several hundred demonstrators broke away and hurled stones at police units. There were no immediate reports of injuries.

The death of the boy late Friday could stir more tensions between forces for the Sunni-led monarchy and groups from Bahrain's Shiite majority seeking a greater political voice.

More than 50 people have died including protesters and police, in almost 20 months of political turmoil in the strategic island nation, which is home to the U.S. Navy's 5th Fleet.

The Shiite-led protests are aimed at breaking Sunni minority rulers' monopoly on power in Bahrain. They started in February 2011 and were inspired by other Arab Spring revolts against authoritarian regimes in the region.

Bahrain's largest Shiite political bloc, Al Wefaq, said security forces killed the boy with using bird shot fire ? used often by Bahrain riot police ? during street clashes in Sadad village, southwest of the capital Manama.

Bahrain's Interior Ministry confirmed one person was killed in what it described as a "terror act" that included firebombs thrown at police.

22 armed men killed by Syrian troops in Aleppo

DAMASCUS, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) -- A total of 22 gunmen were killed Saturday in clashes with government troops in Syria's northern province of Aleppo, the state-run SANA news agency said.

The clashes took place at Tal Zarazir in Aleppo, SANA reported, adding that the troops also dealt deadly blows to armed insurgents at Wadihi and Kafr Dael in Aleppo, once a bastion of support for Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

Aleppo, a city of three million, has emerged as a key battleground in Syria's civil war.

The clashes there hit a new high after rebels announced Thursday the start of "decisive battle."

SANA said the army has been dealing deadly blows to the armed militias in Aleppo, adding that scores are being killed on daily basis.

Barbs exchanged over PUD power vote - The Business Blog - The ...

Rolf Boone | Staff writer ? Published September 28, 2012 Modified September 28, 2012

The two sides in Thurston County's public-power debate came out swinging Thursday night at the Washington Center for the Performing Arts.

Speaking at a forum Thursday were those for and against the idea of the Thurston Public Utility District, a water utility, providing power in the county in addition to the current provider, Puget Sound Energy. They presented their arguments in mostly civil terms, although at times heated exchanges flared among panelists.

The panelists were Jim Lazar, Thurston PUD interim commissioner; Andy Wappler, PSE vice president of corporate affairs; John Pearce, chairman of the Thurston Public Power Initiative; and Ralph Munro, co-chairman of the Alliance to Protect Thurston Power. That group does not support Proposition 1, which would allow the district to pursue public power if it so chose.

The interest in public power was launched by the Thurston Public Power Initiative, a grass-roots effort that collected enough signatures to qualify Proposition 1 for the November ballot.

PSE's Wappler dug in his heels from the start, citing the example of Jefferson County PUD. That entity, also a former water utility, is now set to offer power but has faced higher-than-expected costs and many unknowns.

"They have no staff, no plan for energy efficiency and they can't tell you what their rates are going to be," he told the audience.

More than 100 people filled the lower level of the Washington Center, with some taking seats in the upper levels of the center.

Pearce countered by saying PSE was going to try to scare people, but that the public-power initiative has lots of public support and stands for fair rates and local power control.

"It is they (PSE) who are scared because they know we're right," Pearce said.

And on it went. Lazar cited a recent study produced for the Thurston PUD showing it could provide power at a lower price than PSE, tapping lower power and lower-cost financing.

Munro's concern was public debt the PUD might take on. He pointed out that federal and local governments are struggling with debt levels, and that it was "way too much, way too fast," for the PUD.

"They have no experience, no staff and no money," he said.

The meeting got testy at times.

An audience member asked about accountability during the question-and-answer portion of the meeting. Lazar called on an expert in the audience, Grays Harbor County PUD commissioner Tom Casey, to answer. Wappler turned to Lazar, clearly ready for debate and questioned why he deferred to someone else.

"I thought you knew everything about PUDs, Jim," he said.

He also questioned how accountable Lazar could be to the public given that he was appointed to the Thurston PUD commission and has chosen not to run for the seat in the fall. Lazar was appointed after Paul Pickett resigned in May.

Pearce said he and the public will do everything possible to hold the PUD accountable on providing power.

"We will make sure the PUD does the responsible thing," he said. "There's no other way to do it."

Wappler told the audience that everyone in Thurston County is familiar with PSE, a company that has provided power here for more than 100 years.

But little is known about Thurston PUD, Wappler said.

"That's not a choice; that's a gamble," he said.

The PUD study focuses on three proposals for offering power in the county: building and providing power to the City of Yelm; building and providing power to an area from the Capitol Campus to the Port of Olympia; and acquiring facilities from Puget Sound Energy and providing power from Tumwater's core to the Port of Olympia.

The estimated initial financing is $41.9 million for the first proposal, $50.5 million for the second and $153.6 million for the third. The estimated 10-year savings for the three proposals using wholesale power provided by the Bonneville Power Administration, compared with PSE providing the service, is $10 million for the first proposal, $18.7 million for the second and $215.7 million for the third.

Tax-exempt and taxable bonds would be used to finance the proposals, according to the study.

The financing estimates also include separation, legal, consulting, startup and working capital costs of $6.25 million for the first proposal, $8 million for the second and $25 million for the third.

PSE has released a preliminary valuation of its assets in Thurston County. It shows $588 million in physical assets - poles, wires and transformers - plus $71 million to $100 million in real estate. PSE officials have said public-power startup costs could push power takeover costs to $1 billion; PUD commissioners have disputed that figure.

PSE officials also have disputed the PUD study, saying that to duplicate its own infrastructure could could result in "substantial financial and technical risks."

Iranian news agency picks up Onion article as fact

CHICAGO (AP) ? A joke by the satirical newspaper The Onion appears to have gotten lost in translation.

An Iranian news agency has picked up as fact a story from the paper about a supposed survey showing a majority of white Americans would rather vote for Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (ah-muh-DEE'-neh-zhahd) than President Barack Obama. The only trouble is it was made up, like everything in the just-for-laughs newspaper, which is headquartered in the comedic capital Chicago.

The English-language service of Iran's semiofficial Fars news agency republished the story Friday, several days after it appeared in The Onion.

The Iranian version is copied word-for-word from the original. It leaves out only The Onion's description of Ahmadinejad as "a man who has repeatedly denied the Holocaust and has had numerous political prisoners executed."

Honey bees fight back against Varroa

ScienceDaily (Sep. 26, 2012) ? The parasitic mite Varroa destructor is a major contributor to the recent mysterious death of honey bee (Apis mellifera) colonies. New research published in BioMed Central's open access journal Genome Biology finds that specific proteins, released by damaged larvae and in the antennae of adult honey bees, can drive hygienic behavior of the adults and promote the removal of infected larvae from the hive.

V. destructor sucks the blood (hemolymph) of larval and adult bees leaving them weakened and reducing the ability of their immune systems to fight off infections. Not that honey bees have strong immune systems in the first place since they have fewer immunity genes than solitary insects such as flies and moths. These tiny mites can also spread viral disease between hosts. This double onslaught is thought to be a significant contributor to Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD).

But all is not lost -- honey bees have evolved a way to fight back: hygienic behavior where diseased or parasitized larvae are removed from their brood cells, and Varroa-sensitive hygienic behavior which they use to reduce the number of reproductive mites on remaining larvae.

To find exactly how bees respond to hive infections, researchers from Canada looked at the natural behavioral of bees in the presence of damaged larvae and compared this to protein differences in the larvae and adults. After scanning 1200 proteins the team found that several proteins, including LOC552009 (of unknown function but similar to ApoO), found in the antennae of adults were associated with both uncapping brood cells and the removal of larvae. Other proteins were involved in olfaction or in signal transduction, probably helping the adults find infected larvae amongst a brood.

In damaged larvae, transglutaminase, a protein involved in blood clotting, was upregulated, which appeared to be a key component in regulating the adult's behavior. Other proteins indicated adaptations to help fight infection, including chitin biosynthesis and immune responses.

Dr Leonard Foster from CHIBI at the University of British Columbia, who led this research said, "Bee keepers have previously focused on selecting bees with traits such as enhanced honey production, gentleness and winter survival. We have found a set of proteins which could be used to select colonies on their ability to resist Varroa mite infestation and can be used to find individuals with increased hygienic behavior. Given the increasing resistance of Varroa to available drugs this would provide a natural way of ensuring honey farming and potentially survival of the species."

Computer Inventory Software

Creating dozens of reports manually is very time consuming

Sooner or later, every organization faces with necessity of creating computer inventory reports on hardware and software installed. Creating dozens of reports manually is very time consuming and requires a lot of patience.? Imagine a network with hundreds of computers and other network devices. The manual computer inventory procedure would take a few weeks or even longer.
?In this case, the dedicated network computer inventory software for automatic data gathering and creating reports has a lot of advantages over the standard manual inventory process. Lets review them in details:

1.?? ?The actual inventory information is obtained remotely from network computers. Thanks to the computer inventory programs available on the market, all the inventory information on installed hardware and software is gathered in a few seconds or minutes (depending on the number of machines to be polled on your network) without necessity to visit each workstation or server and review what is installed on it. All you need is administrator rights on the network computers.
2.?? ?Easy and handy access to the hardware configurations of computers allows planning hardware upgrades, finding computers with insufficient amount of memory, etc. The collected statistic information allows you to predict the cost of upgrading and maintaining all the computers on the network with high accuracy.
3.?? ?Some computer inventory software can record a history log for each PC being inventoried. This log is based on repeated computer scanning and comparing the scans. So, an automatic inventory program can track and log changes in hardware and software on computers displaying a full list of changed items. The most advanced programs can even notify an IT admin about the changes via email and send daily reports. This allows preventing the equipment theft by users or replacing hardware parts. In addition, the history log helps to track the movement of office equipment.
4.?? ?Good inventory software will update the inventory data repeatedly on a scheduled basis absolutely automatically. So, the data will always be fresh and updated.
5.?? ?All computer inventory programs are packed with dozens of ready-to-use report templates. IT administrator will not have to spend much time and efforts on creating hardware and software reports.

The remote computer inventory scanning is often based on the client-server technology with the mandatory installation of specialized software on target machines. It is loaded into the memory every time a PC starts, and collects the required data when it receives a command from the inventory database server or when it is started using its own internal cycles.
Some inventory programs are able to poll data without installing anything on remote machines. In such cases, the inventory information is gathered via the WMI technology.
Usually, the inventory software is not very demanding for resources, but they can have a significant impact on the CPU load. On low-end and old slow machines, it is recommended to run the inventory procedures using a scheduled start-up on idle time.

Employing an automatic computer inventory system gives a quite noticeable economic benefit. It saves a lot of IT administrators time allowing him to solve more important issues related to the network operation, such as, optimizing and upgrading the system. In addition, IT managers can always generate the latest reports on computers state and configuration, watch for the inventory changes, plan upgrades and annual budget expenses. Therefore, as any automation process, the computer inventory software will significantly increase the efficiency of the entire organization.

Domestic Short Hair - Destiny - Small - Baby - Female - Cat

My story is interesting and I'm hoping to find a loving & understanding new mom/dad who will treat me as wonderfully as the folks at SARL and my foster mom did!! I was found spinning in circles under a school bus!! The bus driver noticed me before driving! Upon examination by the SARL veterinarian, it was discovered that I had a neurological condition, impairing my right side. After several weeks in foster care to see how much I could recuperate & heal from my mystery condition (hit by a car? head trauma?), I returned to SARL ready to steal someone's heart! My foster mom reports: I love to be held and cuddled, I love a laser light & kitten toys, I use the litter box perfectly! I cannot see out of my right eye. I need a quiet home as loud noises startle me quite a bit but the SARL vet is optimistic that I am going to do well once we get me back into a home setting where I belong! Are you my new mom or dad?

Americans Turning to More Upscale-Oriented Leisure Travel ...

After several years of being "cost-conscious" travel consumers, Americans are starting to place greater meaning and emphasis on the importance of their vacations. In other words, Americans are spending more freely and their starting to put luxury back into leisure travel.
?
At least that's what travel experts at MMGY Global/Harrison Group learned during their newly released survey, "2012 Portrait of American Travelers."
?
Indeed, despite years of challenging economic conditions, the nationally representative survey points to a very promising tourism future here in American and abroad. As MMGY Global/Harrison Group puts it, there appears to be a "revival of the most meaningful driver of American vacations: the emotional connection between travel and quality of life."
Consequently, leisure travelers are doing less of the things that characterized the economic hardship of recent years and are now adopting more behaviors that confirm the importance of travel in their emerging lifestyles, according to the study of 2,527 U.S. households (respondents had annual household incomes of $50,000 or more and at least one overnight trip of 75 miles during the previous 12 months).

For instance, one of the more striking results is more travelers today prefer upscale hotels and resorts this year than last, with 26 percent of vacationers preferring luxury lodging versus just 15 percent in 2011 - a statistically significant boost. Moreover, travelers increasingly place a premium on the convenience associated with access to full hotel services with eight in 10 now opting for a full-service hotel or resort with a restaurant, compared to 75 percent just two years ago.

Meanwhile, more travelers in all annual household income groups now value "quality" over "savings."? Basically, Americans are now more willing to pay full price "as long as I am guaranteed the quality and service I deserve."

?In a surprising departure from the travel planning scenarios that prevailed during the recent recession, today's travelers choose the destination (34 percent) and type of trip (33 percent) first, before setting a budget (18 percent) and searching for deals (eight percent)

Also, the number of travelers engaged in general cost-cutting shopping behaviors has also declined, according to the study. Furthermore, significantly fewer vacationers now wait for items to go on sale, purchase generic or less expensive brands, or maintain a membership in a travel rewards program.

Interestingly, the in-depth, annual survey reveals that while the average number of overnight leisure trips taken during the past year has remained essentially unchanged versus the previous year, the motivations underlying these getaways are evolving.

Clearly, the days of "staycations," "trading down" and other cost-conscious travel behaviors that emerged during the Great Recession have waned, MMGY Global/Harrison Group reports, and the new findings augur well for a boost in 2013 travel spending thanks to a renewed interest in quality experiences that Americans deem "worth it."

To be sure, perceived "value for the price" still remains the most influential factor for nine out of 10 travelers when choosing their lodging destination. The influence of "value" on hotel and resort selection has increased coincidental with a decline in the influence of "room rates," suggesting that travelers really do make a distinction between "price" and "value."

Another key insight from the latest MMGY Global/Harrison Group survey is more than nine in 10 travelers agree, "The memories I get from my vacations make the trip worth it."

This and other emotional connections echo throughout the study, MMGY Global reports, suggesting this sentiment is the primary reason for renewed interest in travel by consumers who endured years of having less money and time to do so.

Vacationers' top goals for the coming year speak to this connection - they want to see more of the world and spend more time with family and friends (37 and 29 percent, respectively). Additionally, 75 percent of leisure travelers agree, "Taking a vacation is the event I most look forward to each year," and fully half would even take a vacation by themselves to "get away from it all," if given the opportunity.

Another fundamental value of vacations in recent years is the notion of "family" getting together, especially the growing trend of multi-generational get-togethers.

The recent study confirmed this element is as valuable as ever showing that "togethering" vacations rose in the face of an uncertain economy, with 43 percent of leisure travelers saying family getaways were the primary purpose of one or more leisure trips during the past year, compared to 40 percent just two years ago.

This renewed familial focus has also given way to a significant boost in multigenerational travel - with 23 percent of all active leisure travelers reporting they are now grandparents, and 37 percent of those grandparents took at least one vacation with their grandchildren during the past 12 months (compared to just 32 percent in 2011).

As for Americans' overall attitude about leisure travel, that too is more upbeat outlook. For instance, U.S. travelers now embrace a more positive view of the world - no doubt another reason for their renewed interest in rediscovering the emotional benefits of travel.

Specifically, MMGY Global/Harrison Group says significantly more leisure travelers now say they are extremely/very optimistic about "their own future," "the future of their children," "their jobs," "their companies" and "the world in general" than just two years ago.

AHMADINEJAD IS AN IMPOSTER! | Weekly World News

At a hastily called press conference outside the United Nations, a spokeswoman for? Iranian?President Mahmoud?Ahmadinejad confirmed that Ahmadinejad is an imposter. ?The man the world assumes to be Iran?s president is actually Pedro al Fayez, son of Columbian and Saudi Arabian parents, who run a prominent dry cleaning business on the south coast of England in Brighton.

Shock and relief was felt around the world as details of this international scandal became known. ?Following a diplomatic briefing late Tuesday night, Mr. Al Fayez was spotted by a former girlfriend who just happened upon the phalanx of security. ??Pedro, where the bloody hell have you been?? Where?s your measuring tape and what?s with all the security?,? his former liaison from Brighton called out.

?Mahmoud just lost it right then and there,? a United Nations executive told WWN. ?He went ashen and started to shudder and shake. ?A sort of guttural gasp was heard.? It sounded something like ?oh shit? and then Al Fayez broke into a hysterical sort of ?laugh-crying? that was halted only after a UN EMTs injection.?

Al Fayez was immediately whisked away by UN police to an unknown location for questioning. ? WWN has learned through several sources that Al Fayez has been engaged in a nearly decade long??prank? spawned by a bitter, ego fueled rivalry with?noted comedic actor, Sacha Baron Cohen, while he was attending Cambridge University. Ahmadinejad began to unravel after Cohen?s The Dictator came out.? ?He felt like Cohen got the upper hand and that made him crazy,? a source close to Ahmadinejad said.

In late 2001, Al Fayez was working as a delivery man for a local laundry with a contract to serve several of the Cambridge dorms. ? Upon entering Baron Cohen?s room, Al Fayez was barraged with racial and socio economic epithets. ?The initial exchange brewed a tempest of escalating critiques flying back and forth. ?Baron Cohen had already begun to develop a reputation in the region for manufacturing outrageous, highly offensive characters that he would insert into real life in an effort to hoodwink the audience.

Having brought each other to a high state of anger and frustration, ?Baron Cohen threw down the gauntlet by offering to trade places with Al Fayez for a full semester if Al Fayez cold fool even one half of one percent of the rubes out there. ??Game on matey-mate-chappy-blokeroo,? they were heard to chime in unison, and Al Fayez put in place his plan to trick the entirety of Iran into believing his character was legit ? a role in which he became inextricably linked for over a decade.

For indeed, Pedro had bested Borat in the century.? He became President of Iran?? and a chilling 6 months shy of nukes!?

The Supreme Leader of Iran, Seyed Ali Khamenei, reacted swiftly and immediately swore-in a new ?real? president of Iran. The ceremony took place via Skype and was witnessed by many diplomats at the United Nations. A shaken and increasingly dubious UN press corp was speculating widely ?that Skype Khamenei sure looked a lot like Ben Bernanke.?

Alternative conspiracy theories also emerged, connecting the increasing religious fundamentalism in Iran the past decade, with the prevalence of burqas and other extensive religious garb with Al Fayez?s deep roots in dry cleaning and laundry.

Sacha Baron Cohen was unavailable for comment, his press secretary citing a hastily called conclave in Russia with Putin.

Apple has its eyes on flexible iPhone screens

The new displays would also work as speakers and have buttons that rise from their surface on command

Don't think the new iPhone 5 was enough of a leap over the previous generation of Apple's smartphone in terms of design? Well, a new patent by the Cupertino, Calif. tech powerhouse should have you very excited. The company has patented a flexible screen technology that could not only allow for curved screens on future devices, but ones that transform to feature physical buttons and actually emit sound as well.

The new screen type can be bent into concave and convex configurations as seen in the patent drawings above, but their flexibility is about more than aesthetics. For example, specific areas of the screens can be made to vibrate differently, replicating the properties of speaker elements and producing sounds. The patent also notes that they can be used with lasers placed underneath to act as microphones, meaning that the entire display could effectively be used to pick up your voice.

Perhaps the most interesting use of the flexible technology, however, is placing tiny actuators underneath the screen that can rise up and bend the surface into physical buttons for activities such as composing emails and dialing phone numbers ? or even playing games. This aspect of the technology could go a long way towards appealing to those who miss the physical keys of mobile phones past while keeping a totally flat ? or in this case, bent ? screen for applications such as gaming and movie watching.

Of course, being a patent this information is nothing more than Apple saying it might use the technology at some point in the future. There's no telling when or if it might happen, but what it might mean to the future of smartphones is nonetheless exciting ? just not literally exciting like Nokia's phone-linked smart tattoo.

Is Lack of Communication a Red Flag? | World of Psychology

Is Lack of Communication a Red Flag?Over time I?ve learned to confront the infamous ?red flags? when it comes to the dating world.

There may have been a tiny voice inside my head that said ?this doesn?t seem right,? but because I didn?t truly want to believe that was the case, I?d push it aside and move on. Well, one of the more pet-peevish warning signs that always left me clueless was when the other person (in my situations it was a guy, but I don?t want to target the whole male species here) could not express how he felt.

It?s also unfortunate when the silence goes beyond just articulating feelings, and he simply can?t communicate? at all. Your messages and texts go ignored, and you?re left wondering how you didn?t foresee this issue to begin with.

We all know communication in relationships is important, but in the early stages, is a tight-lipped manner a red flag signaling you to run the other way?

I?d say yes, considering a block in communication is fatal in serious, long-term relationships. ?The degree of block can vary with the severity or repeating of the communication stop,? Daniel Evans writes in his article, ?The Importance of Communication in Relationships.? ?A block in the relationship exists or will grow when communication is just flat out avoided.?

Evans grew up with the notion of not wanting to upset others; however, that only propelled him to avoid communicating on touchy topics altogether. ?In adult relationships, this behavior only avoided the hard issues that people have to work through for the relationship to be healthy and grow.?

Along with avoidance, diversion is another troublesome communication tactic. If the other person?s questions and curiosities are not addressed, the relationship will no longer be able to move forward.

Anna Solo, a freelance photojournalist, asserts that a lack of communication in any stage of a relationship should be constituted as a red flag. ?People often wait to expose their flaws until after they?ve gotten comfortable with someone, so if that quality pops up right at the start, I feel like it can only go downhill from there,? she says. ?There?s a difference between being shy and being a bad communicator, and if someone can?t communicate well or can?t push themselves to from the beginning, what other foundation can there be for a good relationship? There?s no way to cultivate a healthy relationship if you can?t discuss things.?

Ashley Knox, who has a master?s degree in social work, wasn?t as quick to throw in the towel. She believes that communicating effectively may take time. ?You have to learn about the other person?s communication style and how it works with your own or how it conflicts with your own,? she notes. ?As a couple, all of that needs to be discussed. If communication cannot be improved, then there is no relationship to begin with. Being a couple means being a team and working on things together and growing together. Not every couple that gets together is going to have the same communication pattern. Everyone is raised differently and deals with problems differently.?

Freelance writer Shaheen Darr previously wrote about red flags in relationships. Darr believes that a lack of communication definitely needs to be taken care of before moving on. ?A partner who is withdrawn and not willing to show any love, either through communication or in a physical sense, will leave the other partner feeling unfulfilled and insecure.? Insecurity in itself definitely is not beneficial to relationships either.

Whatever the circumstances causing insufficient communication, when you start to feel that uncomfortable inkling that the dynamic is off, it probably doesn?t hurt to follow your intuition.

???? We want to preamble tomorrow?s nutrition talks with the fact that each class will have different instructors, and depending on what class you go to, the message delivery might be slightly different but the message itself will be consistent:? Nutrition is the foundation of our fitness and health, and only your fitness and health can tell you whether what you are eating is right for you or not.? Put another way, just because Greg Glassman, Barry Sears, Robb Wolff, Mark Sisson, Whole 9, Loren Cordain, Diso, Me, G, McCoy, that new Paleo Book you?re reading, the Zone block chart you?re using, the food podcast you?re listening to, tells you to do something, does not automatically qualify them for your dogma diet status, nor does it invalidate the other approaches.

???? It is our goal to expose you to as many best practices as possible, nutrition and otherwise, because of the varying degrees of excellent results that come from these practices.? The differences between said practices are something to celebrate and experiment with, and are accessible to everyone.? If you ask the top ten athletes in our gym about their food, you will see a pattern that is very similar, but with 10 slightly different strategies to get there.? Diso?s nutritional guide is posted above, expect to see the rest of the staff?s in the future.? Here are my top ten meals, and experiences gathered:

1.? Instead of favorite meals, I?ve got a Protein/Carb/Fat template of food to choose from and mix and match;

Protein ? Beef (Skirt or Tri tip mostly), bison, lamb, goat, ground, salmon, cod, halibut. Grass fed, free range, and wild caught if possible.Carb ? kale, broccoli, sweet potato, strawberries, blueberries, lemon juice. Organic, farmer?s market if possible.Fat ? avocado, almonds, mac nuts, coconut oil, fish oil

2.? Brian?s Bowl of any sort. Caveman and chicken italiano are my favs.3.? Spring Mix Chicken salad from Rainbow Acres.4.? Mendocino Farms make your own salad: Pork belly, bacon, avocado, greens, beets, apple, almonds, vinaigrette on the side. (thank you Sean DeGuzman)5.? Make your own shake:? Blueberries, almond milk, peanut butter, whey protein. (thank you McCoy)6.? Steak salad from Pitfire Pizza.7.? Moroccan chicken salad from CPK.8.? Anything from the Venice Alehouse!? (thank you Jess)9.? Regular Pemmican bars from USWellness Meats, and OhMyBars, either Tan or XXX.? YUMMY!!10.? 3 x 2 Protein style, Animal style, no pickles, from In ?n Out Burger.

*****************************************

In March 2008, my blocks were 17P 17C 17F.
In August 2012, my blocks were 20P 12C 60F, approximately.

I take 6 to 10 grams of fish oil daily (1 to 2 tablespoons.)? Without a doubt, Fish Oil at high enough doses is integral to our training and performance.? Without it, I and a bunch of high level performers will not be able to perform as we do.

I have an SFH Post WOD shake with 4 parts water, 1 part coconut water after every workout.? Sometimes 2 to 3 a day.? Been on this for over a year.? It helps with soreness and I feel better, but I do not see it as more than a supplement to Paleo/Zone/Fish Oil.

Your performance over time is the ultimate arbiter of your nutritional needs.

No matter how many times and in how many ways I dance around this subject, no matter how many debates I?ve been in and refereed and watched and listened to, I can neither get simpler than nor stray far from:? Eat meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds,? some fruit, little starch, no sugar.? Keep intake to levels that will support exercise but not body fat.

Avoid nutritional homilies, Argumentum ad vercundiam fallacies, assertions made A priori, or anything method based absent data.?

Try everything and see what happens.

If you?ve been here for a while, we would love to hear your top 10 meals, lessons learned, and rules of your own.

Is Your Sales Message Unethical And Does It Sell? | Content for ...

Author: Don Hastie | Total views: 100 Comments: 0
Word Count: 679 Date:

A short, sharp article today about something that just happened in the Internet Marketing world that shook me to the core!

Every week it feels like there is a brand new product launch... all pushed by affiliates and all claiming that you can make a fast/quick buck online. Now, these types of product don't really appeal to us, however one launch did catch my eye... not because of the product but the way the sales letter positioned it.

The sales letter took a stance that I have not seen in the Internet Marketing arena before although I have seen similar ones, but less hard hitting (!), in the life insurance arena.

In a nut shell the letter told a story of a lady who on the surface appeared to have the perfect life, great husband, lovely children and everything was going right for them.

In fact it was so good they decided to move house to a bigger, better one.

And that's when it started to fall apart.

The sales letter told of how her perfect husband had been having an affair and how he moved out and left her with the children. Sad, but she still had the house and children etc.

But here's the kicker?the sales letter then said that her husband was killed in an accident and he didn't have any life insurance?she was left with a mountain of bills and growing debt.

Suddenly she had gone from a 'picture book' life to a one of serious debt, unhappiness and despairing how she was going to manage bringing her children up in this new strange world she had been thrown into.

TIME OUT

How would you feel reading a letter like that?

Think about it?it had drawn you in with a story about a family that seemingly had it all? and then bang! It hit you with a killer blow.

Carrying on with the sales letter, it detailed how she needed money fast and, of course, started an online business that generated her cash quickly and turned her's and her children's lives around and you could do the same thing.

I don't know how you would react, but my first reaction was to think, hmm, that's stooping a bit low.

The Letter Had Actually Altered My State Of Mind

I wasn't enraged as some people have been (remember: forums do tell all) but it didn't leave me feeling good, in fact I had to take a reality check to get my mind back on track and forcibly remove the negative thoughts that had swamped my head.

Let me tell you this: Any sales letter that changes the state of a reader's mind is doing its job? perfectly! That why we write them. To get someone who has shown an interest in our product or service to engage with us and ultimately do what we ask them to do? sign-up or buy.

This letter did just that? but in a way that left me personally cold and feeling negative? not good!

Did It Work?

Now, I do believe that if this letter was read by anyone who needed money quickly or was desperate to start an online business it would have succeeded in getting the sale.

However, even after taking a step back and looking at the sales letter objectively I just couldn't bring myself to accept that I would ever use such a tactic so sell a product outside of the life assurance/funeral markets!

Was the launch of the product successful? I don't know, however it was being pushed by the usual suspects in that field and I'm sure it did very well.

Will it generate sales... most definitely!

How About You?

Ethical or Unethical? Depends on your conscience I guess?
